Knights Support Seminarian

Published on

The Knights of Columbus sponsored the first annual Music Fest, which took place on Saturday, September 21st at Mary Mother, with all proceeds going in support of John Rumpza, a 3rd year seminarian studying for the priesthood at St. Paul Seminary. This seminarian sponsorship is part of the council's Faith in Action initiative and an example of what the Knights do in support of the parish and greater Catholic community. A group of Knights (From L-R: Mel Meier, John Bolke, John Rumpza, Leroy Berres, John Willebburg and Dave Rittenhouse) presented a check to John the Wednesday following the event.

However, there is more to the story. The week before the event, John--a fellow Knight, had no idea who we were and what our council had in mind. John found himself in a critical financial situation, and at a loss, he prayed, saying "Okay Lord, you know my need right now...you take care of it, and I will not stress about it. I trust in you." Literally, within minutes of this prayer, John received a call from our Grand Knight, Dave Rittenhouse introducing the council and the intention to provide financial support. John was speachless, then after a pause, told Dave what had just happened. This is truly an example of God's love and mercy, and how He uses His people to provide support in times of need.
